Itinerary

Is there a city that has a more extensive historical background than Athens? A city renowned for its more than 3,000 years of history, Athens is recognised as the cradle of democracy. As you speed towards your goal with our educational audio guide, you'll become an expert in Greek history in no time. Get off at the well-known Syntagma Square, in the centre of the city. This was the scene of the 1843 revolt of the Athenians against King Otto of Greece, and it continues to be a hive of political activity. Discover the charming Plaka area, which is close by. Here, you'll find pavement cafes that open into cobblestone streets adorned with vibrant bougainvillaea.

The Acropolis! Located right in the heart of Athens, this elevated, rocky plateau is arguably the city's most well-known sight. Perched above is the ancient and deteriorating Parthenon. Are you prepared for more vintage material? Make sure you have your camera ready before you get back on! You will want to take in the amazing sight of the Temple of Zeus rising above you with its 17-meter-tall columns! Follow our red Athens route eastward to see the massive Ancient Olympic Stadium and picture what 1896 would have been like for the first modern Olympic games.

Popular stops:
Acropolis and Parthenon: One of the most famous landmarks in Athens, offering a deep dive into ancient Greek history and architecture.

"Hop-on hop-off buses offer flexible sightseeing, clear commentary, and convenience, though crowded stops and timing gaps can test patience during peak tourist hours."

"Perfect for first-time visitors, HOHO buses simplify navigation making the tour an immersive local experience."

"

Comfortable seats and scenic routes shine, yet strict schedules and traffic delays can disrupt the seamless hop-on hop-off adventure sometimes. But overall a good experience.
