Itinerary

Make the most of your time in Inverness with our Red Route, designed to showcase both the city and its most famous natural wonder—Loch Ness. This route takes you close to the loch’s shoreline, giving you the freedom to explore the largest inland body of water in the British Isles your way. Whether you choose a scenic walk, a boat cruise, or simply to soak in the views, Loch Ness offers a truly unforgettable experience, known as much for its mystery as for its breathtaking beauty.

But Inverness has far more to offer than just the loch. Rich in history and Highland charm, the city is best explored by hopping on and off at key stops along the route. One of the standout landmarks is Inverness Castle, dramatically perched on a cliff overlooking the River Ness. Its striking presence makes it a must-see and a perfect spot for photos and panoramic views of the city.

For a more tranquil experience, hop off at Inverness Botanic Gardens on Bught Lane. These beautifully maintained gardens are a peaceful retreat, home to a diverse collection of plants and flowers from around the world. It’s an ideal place to unwind and enjoy a quieter side of the city.

You can also take a relaxing stroll along the historic Caledonian Canal, which runs through Inverness and connects Scotland’s east and west coasts. This impressive waterway, partly man-made, includes Loch Ness as one of its key sections and offers scenic walking routes with lovely views along the way.

To round off your day, embrace a true Highland tradition by stopping at a local café for a cup of tea and a freshly baked scone. With its mix of natural beauty, history, and laid-back charm, Inverness is a destination best explored at your own pace—and our Red Route makes it easy to experience it all.
