Itinerary

Discover one of London’s most iconic maritime attractions with an unforgettable visit to the historic Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Step aboard the world’s last surviving tea clipper and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of 19th-century seafaring adventure, maritime trade, and naval heritage.

Built in 1869, the legendary Cutty Sark was celebrated as one of the fastest sailing ships of its era, transporting tea from China to Britain at record-breaking speeds. Today, following an extensive six-year restoration after the 2007 fire, this beautifully preserved vessel stands proudly as one of London’s must-visit historical attractions.

Explore the decks of this world-famous clipper ship and uncover the captivating stories of the sailors who once lived and worked onboard. Wander through interactive galleries and immersive exhibits that reveal the romance, danger, and excitement of life at sea during the golden age of sailing. Touch the ship’s original iron framework, visit the lower cargo hold where precious tea and goods were stored, and admire the towering masts and intricate rigging stretching more than 11 miles above the deck.

Stroll beneath the magnificent copper-clad hull and marvel at the ship’s sleek design from a completely unique perspective. Take the captain’s wheel in your hands, enjoy panoramic views over the River Thames, and discover an extraordinary collection of beautifully carved figureheads representing literary, historical, and political icons from around the world.

Cutty Sark Afternoon Tea Experience
Enhance your visit with a traditional afternoon tea served beneath the legendary tea clipper itself — the very ship that once carried the world’s finest teas back to London. Relax in a truly unique setting while enjoying a tempting selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, homemade raisin scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and an assortment of indulgent desserts including lemon drizzle cake and almond-pistachio macarons. Complement your meal with a carefully selected range of premium teas while soaking in the remarkable maritime atmosphere. Guests can choose to explore the Cutty Sark either before or after their afternoon tea experience.

Rig Climb Adventure at Cutty Sark
For thrill-seekers and adventure lovers, the Cutty Sark Rig Climb Experience offers a rare opportunity to climb the ship’s historic rigging for the first time since its arrival in Greenwich in 1954. Begin your adventure with a detailed safety briefing beneath the ship’s spectacular hull, where expert guides share fascinating insights into the daily lives of sailors aboard this iconic vessel.

Then, step onto the traditional ratlines — rope ladders once used by the crew — and ascend the towering rigging high above the deck. As you climb, experience the excitement and challenge faced by sailors navigating the seas over a century ago. Upon reaching the platform, pause to enjoy breathtaking views and a refreshing drink while admiring one of London’s most famous maritime landmarks from a completely different perspective.

The adventure continues with the exhilarating Lower Topsail Yard challenge, where you’ll carefully grip the horizontal yardarm and balance along the footrope, just as the original crew members once did during their voyages across the globe.

Whether you are passionate about maritime history, seeking a family-friendly attraction in London, or looking for a unique adventure experience, Cutty Sark offers an unforgettable journey through Britain’s rich naval heritage in the heart of Greenwich.
