Itinerary

A unique, hands-on cocktail experience is combined with a comprehensive historical tour of the museum in the Savannah American Prohibition Museum Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience, a premium option. In addition to seeing the rich history of the Prohibition era, this tour offers you the opportunity to travel back in time by touring a reconstructed speakeasy and sipping cocktails from that era.

The guided tour and cocktail experience offered by our museum is likely to increase your understanding of this amazing period in American history, regardless of whether you've taken one of our cocktail classes, explored the American Prohibition Museum on your own via a self-guided tour, or have never been here at all.

You will meet your guide, who will transport you back to early 1900s America while the country struggles with the "alcohol problem." Your guide will be costumed historically accurate for the time period. An enormous national movement to outlaw alcohol has emerged and gained enormous traction. How did we come to be willing to outlaw alcohol, and what was it like to live through those years of drought? Your guide is "jazzed" to tell you that tale.

The tale of the 18th Amendment is accompanied by a large ensemble of activists, creators, and businesspeople. Learn all about the saloon's one-woman struggle waged by Carry Nation. You will meet Adolphus Busch, the baron of beer, and Lillian M.N. Stevens, the advocate of temperance. Naturally, experiencing Prohibition would be incomplete without taking on the legendary Al Capone. Your guide will enact all these well-known faces and more.

After your tour, you'll emerge into the heart of a busy, authentically restored speakeasy. After that, you can try the Old Fashioned, the original cocktail, as part of this ticket. After that, you can MAKE a Bee's Knee using all the ingredients on your own, of course, with help from our knowledgeable bartenders!

You will study important subjects like the birth of the Temperance Movement, the ratification of the Eighteenth Amendment, the involvement of gangsters and bootleggers, and the effects of the alcohol prohibition on society.

The tour includes real artefacts, such as vintage cars, moonshine stills, and flapper dresses, along with interactive exhibits that let you experience life in the Prohibition era.

With tales of Al Capone, Carrie Nation, and other notable people, as well as Savannah's personal connection to the era, the guide's narration brings the time period to life.

Savour a Signature Cocktail: Choose from carefully made concoctions from the Prohibition era, like the Old Fashioned, Sidecar, or Bee's Knees. To further enhance the immersive experience, the bartenders are not only highly proficient in mixology but also dress in 1920s clothes.

Class on Mixing Drinks: A mixology class, where you learn how to make traditional drinks from the Prohibition era under the supervision of a skilled bartender, is included in certain excursions. With the use of methods from the 1920s, you can make your own cocktail in this interactive experience.

The tour's centrepiece is the speakeasy itself, which has a lively atmosphere reminiscent of 1920s speakeasy culture, vintage decor, and dark lighting. As you enjoy your beverage and take in the ambience, you'll think you've travelled back in time.

The tour guides frequently tell tales of how speakeasies functioned during Prohibition, how individuals got around the police, and how jazz music developed into a major force in the underground nightlife.
